The data was retrieved from the Nationwide Emergency and Department Sample, which is the most abundant database of its kind in the country.

The researchers concluded that opioid misuse and addiction is an extensive public health issue in the U.S. And every day during the study’s final year, about 135 teens and young adults had been diagnosed with an opioid addiction in emergency departments.
