National Recovery Month aims to empower families and communities

demonstrating how others can offer help to those in need.

By sharing a story with others — whether or not it is anonymous, over audio, video, or in a group setting — individuals who are struggling may be able to relate and seek help or simply find the needed inspiration to keep moving forward, SAMHSA members stated.  

Resources and activities for this year’s National Recovery Month are available online and allow people to learn how to find innovative ways to support those with mental illness and substance use disorders.

Over 300 national and local organizations around the country have also partnered with SAMHSA to pass on the same message of support and help provide the needed resources to access treatment, learn more about mental health, or just celebrate success stories.
